Controls feel fantastic even today thanks to the N64 analogue stick. Aiming, strafing, and switching weapons all click beautifully. You can go in loud with all guns blazing or take the stealth route, using silenced pistols and careful movement to avoid raising alarms.
The level design is excellent, mixing linear objectives with hidden secrets and multiple routes. Objective-based missions keep things fresh, and the variety of gadgets and weapons adds real tactical depth.
The alarm trigger? GoldenEye 007 on the Nintendo 64 can be pretty unforgiving in places. Some objectives are cryptic, and getting spotted at the wrong moment can turn a clean run into total chaos. The AI is occasionally ropey, and a few sections feel brutally hard on higher difficulties. Still, when you nail a perfect stealth run or pull off an insane headshot, it feels absolutely brilliant.
